Self-compassion

Have you ever heard of self-compassion?

When we face difficulties and challenges, we often blame ourselves for failures and criticize our shortcomings. Excessive self-criticism can negatively affect our mental health. Self-compassion means being kind and understanding towards ourselves when we are suffering and struggling. We often care for our friends and family but ignore caring for ourselves, but caring for ourselves is also very important!!!

Self-compassion consists of three key elements: Self-Kindness, Common Humanity, and Mindfulness:

1. Self-Kindness - When we encounter failure or challenges, we should treat ourselves with kindness, caring, and understanding instead of harsh self-criticism. This self-kindness helps us cope better with challenges.

2. Mindfulness - Mindfulness allows us to observe our thoughts and emotions non-judgmentally with accepting and open attitudes, which helps reduce the impact of negative emotions.

3. Common Humanity - Recognizing you are not alone and others are going through similar situations. Recognize that human beings are also imperfect and everyone makes mistakes, has shortcomings, and experiences vulnerability. Therefore, accept your imperfections and limitations rather than be overly harsh on yourself.

Remember that everyone deserves care, especially yourself. So when facing difficulties and challenges, #StayOkayHK hopes that everyone can take good care of themselves to maintain mental health and happiness.
