Aerobic vs. Anaerobic exercises

Aerobic exercise? Anaerobic exercise? You may have heard much about it, but what are the differences?

Aerobic Exercise: Physical activity that increases your heart rate and respiratory rate to supply more oxygen for energy production to meet the demands of muscles. The common aerobic exercises include jogging, walking, swimming, etc. This type of exercise mainly helps to train endurance and cardiorespiratory function.

Anaerobic exercise: Physical activity that requires maximum effort to complete high-intensity actions in a short period. This type of exercise primarily relies on energy stored in the muscles rather than using oxygen. Common anaerobic exercises include weightlifting and resistance training. The main benefits of anaerobic exercise include increasing muscle mass and boosting metabolic rate.
